I'm looking for sources of information about a great-grandfather, Frank Palm who changed his name from Palmquist.
From his 1916 obituary: "Mr. Palm was born in Kalmar, Sweden in 1859, and he arrived in Chicago in 1882. He moved to Menominee in 1889 and worked for the lumber companies as blacksmith. In 1893 he arrived in Daggett [Mich] and opened up a shop, and had an extensive business in the line of farm implements, as well as general black-smithing at the time of his death." An Oscar Palmquist of Duluth was present at his funeral.
I've found a 1946 obituary for John Palmquist: "...John Palmquist was born in Sweden March 26th 1861. He came to America in 1882. After a short time in Chisago City he settled in Minneapolis until April 1909 when he returned to Chisago City and resided on a farm". The dates seem to correspond somewhat, but I'm not sure if he is is a relative.
Any help would be appreciated.
