Seeking information on Palmquists in Smoland, Sweden in 1860's and 1870's....
My grandfather, Oscar Emil Palmquist, was born on May 29, 1869 in Pelarna Parish, Kalmar, Sweden (or in Pelarne parish, or in Pelarna, the parish of Kalmlass, Smaland). Siblings were Charles Palmquist, John Palmquist, Caroline Palmquist Anderson, Hannah Palmquist Larson, Mary Anne Palmquist Carlson (order uncertain). His wife was Hulda Albertina Anderson. Family legend says that Oscar's father was a woodsman in Smoland, where he died of pneumonia. After that, Oscar's mother is believed to have immigrated to the United States with some (five) of her children. Augustana College records show that Oscar was baptized and confirmed in Sweden and arrived in America in 1891 from Pelarne directly to Moline, Illinois.
