As to your statement that her grandmother was a sister of T. Jefferson, I would like to see some of the documentation or history as you say of this line and connection, if you can do this.

I have searched every gedcom I can find on the internet and none of them show that Lucy (Jefferson) Lewis had a son named "James."

I have been working in another direction for many years and have not heretofor heard of this one. Michael Cook, a noted genealogy author and a "Lewis" has material suggesting a very different line of ancestors for James Lewis.
