Pamplin, Nicholas, 1764, K&Q County, VA

Today, I was in the Essex County, VA courthouse researching my Vass line when I came across an item that related to the Pamplin family. I thought I'd post it here in case it is of interest to anyone.

Essex County Deed Book 29, page 269 mentions the auction of the land of a NICHOLAS PAMPLIN of King & Queen County, VA to satisfy debts as part of the settlement of his estate after his death. The deed mentions that he had a wife, MARY PAMPLIN, and a son, ROBERT PAMPLIN. The tract was 240 acres. It was auctioned off in 1764 to the highest bidder for 105 pounds, 5 shillings. The land description is given in the deed, which noted the tract included houses, buildings, gardens etc. One corner bordered on land belonging to a Mr. Davis. King and Queen is, unfortunately, a burned county, so it's records have been lost.
