Thanks for these Pamphlin hints on spelling. I may experiment some. BTW, that link didn't work..can you recheck?

The unique names among the sons of Mary Pamplin/Pamphlin and John Carrington were James Carrington born c1752 Orange NC and Ephraim Carrington born c1754. I don't have those first name among prior generations although no hint as to their occurrence among Pamplin/Pamphlin lines either.

I assume you found the royal connection to our Carrington/Codrington line. Our multi-great grandmother was Katherine Roet Swynford born c1750 who married the king's son as a second husband. The royals are distant half cousins as a result.
