Joshua Goad came to Smith County, Tenn. from Pittsylvania County, Va in the very early 1800s. His second wife was a Witcher whose sister married a Kirby. His son Stephen (1808-1893) is buried in the Pankey cemetery near Difficult Tenn.there. He married Susan Pankey, daughter of Ozyeah "Uzzi" Pankey (1773-1825) who hasd married Sarah Kirby (1785-1850s).
Stephen and Susan Goad had a son Jefferson(1832-1906), a CSA veteran captured at Franklin, Tenn., Nov 1864. He married Virginia Kemp. "Uzzi" reportedly had a daughter Aletha Jefferson Pankey.
These families all intermarried in Tenn. and Mo. Jenkins, Young, Ramseyand Smith were other families connected in Va. and Tenn.
AGoad went ro Madison County, Mo with a Kemp in the 1850s.
