What follows is my Paternal Line dating back to the 17th Century. I'm sure that somewhere, sometime, I am connected to others on this
list. Maybe this information will be of interest or helpful to you.
The following genealogical research was done by Reverend Romeo Parenteau - my Great-Uncle. It is a "paternal line" family tree -
which is a bit different from the traditional tree & branch style of family tree that most of us think of. Instead of beginning with the earliest
ancestors and tracing all children borne to the present day, a paternal line family tree actually traces "backwards" from the present day
descendents up to the earliest paternal ancestor. It's really who your father is, who his father was, who his father's father was, and so
on… so, it's a straight line type of family tree.

The first Parenteau, and the only one to emmigrate from France to Canada, was Pierre Parenteau. Pierre Parenteau is the common
ancestor to all Parenteau families on the North American continent.

I. PIERRE PARENTEAU, of Saintonge in France, sailed across the Atlantic and disembarked at Quebec in 1671. He married in Quebec on
September 11th, 1673 to a woman named Marguerite Tisseran who was referred to as "fille du roi" or "the King's daughter". At present,
the only assumption that we can make is that Marguerite was the daughter of Louis XIV, The Great: King of France, 1638-1715. Pierre
established himself at St-Francois-du-Lac, Canada at the Crevier Seigneurie (lordship or manor). He was killed in 1690 by the Iroquois
following a general massacre of the colonists. Pierre and Marguerite had eleven (11) children, of which Pierre-Louis was the youngest.
