Hi Sharon,
It may be possible other Parham slaves kept the Parham name and traveled with your Ben.Some stayed in TN and others made the trip to AR, like your Ben and are still there today. I'd love to explore any info you may have perhaps mentioning them. Who is this possible brother of Ben's that you are looking for?
Many Parhams with the name today, had ancestors that were free and some were slaves, who traveled with their owners or previous owners as they migrated being descendants of the early colony in VA. I believe there was a 'good relationship' between most Parham owners and slaves as many were freed before the civil war or when they reached a certain age. I am amazed with their history of pioneering and feel my ancestors played a respectable role as extended family sharing the name and co-existing together. Many of them also shared their first names and continued naming their children. I believe many of their descendants have some answers to links about our AA Parham ancestors.
Unfortunately, my Parham lineage was lost with how times were back then and I am searching a needle in a hay stack it feels sometimes.I'd love to share whatever information you may have and can be reached on the Parham Family Tree on Facebook, which I am helping to link and share history with ALL descendants of Parham.
Thank you or anyone else in advance and I look forward to hearing from you!
Carla
