Hello Parks Researchers,
I'm looking for info on a Robert Parks of Brooke county VA, his will dated Jan 23, 1824 page 197, list his wife Ann Parks, sons; Robert Parks, John Parks, Andrew Parks,
daughters; Susan, wife of Thomas Baker, Ann wife of Charles D. Foreman, Elizbeth Parks.
Executors; Wife Ann Parks, son John Parks
witnesses, John Elliott, John McClurg.

a Robert Parks had land next to one of my Samuel Ralston in 1809 in Brooke county, north of now Weirton, Hancock co. WV.

A Elizabeth Parks married a Samuel Ralston of Brooke bef 1827 & the couple moved to Holmes Co OH then purchased land in Seneca Co. OH where they were in 1840 census till they died & are buried there. They had 3 sons, Robert, Joseph & Andrew & several daughters.
I think she is the Elizabeth listed in the will of Robert Parks but looking for more proof. I have not found a marriage listing for them yet.

1810 census of Brooke has 2 Robert Parks listed;
1 male under 10, 1 male 26-44 & 1 female under 10
the other Robert has
2 males under 10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 45 & up,
2 females 10-15, 1 female 16-25, 1 female 26-44

In 1820 census of Brooke, also 2 Robert Park's
1 has 2 males 10-15, 1 male over 45, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 16-25, 1 female 45 & up
the other Robert
2 males under 10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 16-25, 1 male 26-45, & 3 females under 10, 1 female 10-15, 1 26-44.
There was also a Wm Park listed same page.

In 1830 census there is a listing of Ann Parks has 1 males 5-9, 2 females 10-14, 1 female 15-19, 1 female 20-29, & 1 female 20-49.

I find a Valenda Parks in 1840 census, 3 males under 5, 1 male 5-9, 1 male 15-19, 1 female 5-9, 1 female 10-14, 1 female 20-29, ? could this be Valinda? possible ?

Death records in Brooke list a Ann Park of Cross Creek died Jan 17 1886 at 78 yrs old of Dropsey, reported by son in law G.L Wilson. - putting her birth year around 1808.

Some marriages in Brooke county records list;
Ann Parks & Charles D. Foreman married 3 April 1817 by E. McCurdy.
&**Robert jr. Park married Velinda Swearingen 21 Aug 1823
Joanna Park & John McEwing 9 Jan 1823
Robert Park married Isabella Kirk 19 May 1839
Robert Parks & Charity Hindman 30 Nov 1854
Julia A.E. Park & Zadoc S. Thorn 27 Jun 1841
George M. Park & Jennie Hessey 30 Apr 1872
Mathew C.Park & louisa Wright 19 Mar 1872
Madison W. Park & Jennie May Green 19 Nov 1873

On the Brooke county genealogy society page there is a mention of a Kelly Park who settled in Brooke with sons Robert & George.

another site on their page under the families section has an article on a Robert Parks it doesn't list the submitters name or email or contact info but says Robert Parks had land records in 1808 with 2 lots of ground in Charlestown, Brooke co. No. 24 & 68.

the pages has a family story on Robert Parks born in 1773-5 in Ireland leaving there in 1796 & resided in PA prior to settling in Brooke. He transported cargo down the Ohio & Mississippi River to New Orleans on a keelboat in the early 1800's.
then article says his first wife was Margaret poss Erwin or Irwin born in 1777 in Ireland & died Jan 8, 1837 buried in the Park Cemetery in Skullrun.
Says in 1836 Robert Purchased 350 acres along the Ohio river just south of Turkey Run from Ephraim Wells. 2 years later he sold this property located in Jackson County to his sons William & Robert Jr.
This story mentions an article that mentions "other children" but doesn't give a source for this article it refers to.

It list known children of Robert & Margaret as William Park 1804-8 Sept 1861 married Jane Adams Jackson Co WV
John Park 1810-uly 3, 1821 Brooke co Park Cemetery Skull Run, Robert PArk Jr. July 22, 1817 - Jan 10 1872 married Isbella Kirk in Jackson Co Wv *see marriages in Brooke co VA I listed**Julia A.E. Park & Zadock Thorne.

Info also says Robert married 2nd wife Ann or Anna around 1840. Ann born 1811 in VA. Robert died Sept 1 1872 & buried in the Park Cemetery in Skullrun. Says there is a discrepancy; his headstone states he was 91 years old making him born in 1781* census listed ages as 1773 -1775. Ann died 1885.
It says the Jackson County History book contains a great deal of interesting info about the descendants of Robert Park Sr. ...
I would like to find a copy of this history book info to help sort this out.

With the early will of Robert in 1824 in Brooke, could this other Robert who married in 1823 be his son mentioned in the will?

I'm helping someone who is from the lines of the Robert Parks & Verlinda Swearingen who married in 1823 in Brooke.
Their 2 boys Andrew & George Parks are living with their grandparents George & Ruth Swearingen in 1850 census.

in 1870 census of Cross Creek Brooke co WV. I find a Robert Park age 89 (b. abt 1781)b. in Ireland & Anna Park 59 (young enought to be his daughter*) Rachel Park 26, Matthew Park 24 & Ger McClelland Park 17.

& in 1870 in Jackson co WV Gilmore township 17 Aug 1870
house # 305, Robert Park 53 b. VA, (b. abt 1817)Isablella 54 b. PA, Madison J. 19, George W. 14, Henry F. 12,& Sarah looks like ? Roah 14,
house 306, John Park 39, b. VA Jane 59 Andrew J. 30, Annie 27, Ledona 6, Martin ? 28, Thomas 25, Jane J. 22

house 307, Robert Park 37, (b. abt 1833)Margaret 28, ? Lon S. 12, Clide 9, Birdete? 8, Alfred 4, & Marie Birdett 55.,

With the 2 Roberts in the 1970 census one in Brooke & the other in Jackson co VA? could this story submitted on Brooke co. site be confusing the 3 Robert's?.

My connection is byway of the Samuel Ralston & Ralston families of early Brooke. Any clues or other info to help fill in some of the lines would be treasured.
Thanks, Happy trails on your researching also.
