Has any one found supporting evidence for the below Wyoming massacre story that mentions Adam Shope’s wife (Esther Park), as set forth in the book “History of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, Volume 3, By Luther Reily Kelker, page 561?
“Adam Shope, son of Andrew Shope, was born in Paxton township, and inherited a portion of his father's farm, on which he passed his entire life. He took a leading part in local affairs, and served in the war of 1812, with the rank of lieutenant. Adam Shope married a Miss Park, whose parents, with several members of their family, were killed in the Wyoming massacre, one son being carried off by the Indians. Miss Park, who was then two years old, was saved by a neighbor, Daniel Page, who wrapped her in his overcoat and fled with her to a place of safety.”
Any comments/observations from those familiar with this story would be appreciated.
