I see that he is buried in Emory Cemetery in Section 2 of Madison Twp., in Jackson Co. just north of Greenfield Twp. of Gallia Co. Also there is a Wm. Parkins, b. 13 Nov. 1813 who served in Co. "A" of the 56th Reg. OVI. I'm guessing they were related. Land records show a Samuel Parkins gaining Congressional lands in Section 19 of Perry Twp., just E of Greenfield Twp., in 1845. A Wm. Parkins gets land in the same place in 1849. Just next door to this section, a Thomas Parkins gets land in 1845 & 1847 in Section 24 of Greenfield Twp. So my question is, are you aware that your Samuel had any brothers? The reason I ask is that I've been trying to get a lead on a Thomas PErkins who moved from this area to Mercer Co., MO, and d. in Feb. 1880. I think he's the one on Greenfield Twp. pg. 120 in the 1850 census (with kids from his late wife living with John & Barbara Campbell on pg. 121), but now I wonder if he was actually a PArkins. (???)
