I am currently collecting information on Joseph Wilfred Parkins, Sheriff of London and Middlesex, 1819-20, who died in Newark, New Jersey, in 1840. He was related in some way to my great-grandfather, William Clarke (c1818-?, born in Carlisle, Cumberland, son of Thomas and Mary Clark or Clarke. Do you know anything connecting the Clarkes and Parkins families in Cumberland in the late 18th or early 19th century?
