James PARKINS married to Margaret THARP May 23, 1835 Greenbriar VA (now WV)

I descend from Virginia PERKINS who was born in GREENBRIER County, VA in 1847. In 1850 (when she was just 3) she was living with the James family in Union Township of Pike County OHio.

I was told that Virginia's parents were James PARKINS and a FNU Thorp.

I have found a marriage bond of James G. PARKINS and Margaret THARP dated May 23, 1835. It seems that this could be the parents of Virginia PERKINS. Abraham FIFER was one of the obligors on the bond.

I also noticed on the preceding page of the Union Township of Pike County OHio 1850 census two other young Perkins children living in other households. Emily Perkins, age 10 living with the Henry RIMBY family and Charles Perkins, age 14 living with the Daniel Rimby family.

There are also THARPs living close by according to the census.

DId these three children lose their parents?

Would love to hear from anyone that can shed light on any of this.

I do know that my Virgina Perkins married George Milton Wells in1862 in Lincoln, Logan County,Illinois, and she died in 1902 in Oklahoma. Anything beyond that is just educated guessing.
