Colleen & Maxine,
I am descended from a long line of Parlimans from ULSTER, SULLIVAN and ORANGE counties (NY)and I believe we have a connection. I have a strong connection to Shawangunk and the Dutch Reformed Church there (I'm currently waiting for church records on microfilm from LDS). The names in your postings are familiar to me but some of the details conflict with other data I have found.

In a nutshell and working backwards, here is what I know for sure...

EDWIN BROWN PARLIMAN (My grandfather) 1899-1944
+ Edith May BARRY 1907-1966
Edwin and Edith had 6 children.

Edwin's father was
JAMES H. PARLIMAN 1862-1945
+ MARY HESTER BROWN 1888-1865
James and Mary had 3 children.

James H.'s father was
JEREMIAH PARLIMAN 1831-1904
+ Maria or Mariah FULLER 1832-1900
Jeremiah and Maria had 2 children.

Jeremiah's father was
JAMES PARLIMAN b. abt 1806
+ CATHERINE DECKER b. abt. 1807
Children of JAMES and CATHERINE
1. Jehial b. 1829
2. JEREMIAH b. 1831
3. Ananais b. 1833
4. Addison b. 1837
5. Amanda Catherine b. 1843

Here's where I begin to get confused. I believe the parents of James are EDWARD PARLIMAN/PARLEMAN and EVA WINFIELD but I find birthdates for Edward ranging from 1774 to 1794 and at least 3 surnames for Eva (Winfield? Wintfield? Windfield?) It seems likely that Edward and Eva had at least 5 children: James, Lana, Lavina, Edward Jr., and Eva Jane, but some sources list another son, JACOB b. 1805. I have found EDWARD JR. with a wife ANN and a son WILLIAM - Maxine, is this the one you were referring to?
Edward Sr. seems to be one of 8 children of JOHANNES PARLEMAN (1734) and CATHARINA something or other (Van STEINBURGH?). I find them bouncing back and forth between Shawangunk, New Paltz and New Hurley.

I have to say the Edwards, Johannes, and Jacobs, not to mention the Catherines and Annas, are driving me crazy! If you can shed any light on actual names, dates and places I would sure appreciate it! And could you please tell me what the sources are for your info? I'm fairly new at this, so if this is a lot to ask, I do appologize. I'd be more than happy to share additional detail and sources for the James to Jeremiah to James to Edwin line as well as anything juicy I find in the Shawangunk church records if you are interested.

Please email me at jillthompson@earthlink.net. I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks!
