Michael: I just read your message concerning Giles (?1732) and the possibility he married Mary Dodson. Until recently I too doubted the relationship of OUR Giles (1758) and a mythical Giles supposedly born in Chester Co, PA in 1732. I still do not know where Giles (1732) was born or if he married a Mary DODSON. However, it has been called to my attention that a Giles Parman died intestate in Northampton Co PA 1776. This information is found by ordering microfilm # 0946454 from the Mormon Church Family Center. It is for "Pennsylvania, Northampton - Probate Records, Register's Index, Surname N-R, 1752 - 1776" This film shows: "File No.: 706; Estate; Giles Perman; Date of Death/Residence: not given; Personal Representative: Mary Perman - admr; Proceeding: Admr Bond; Document: not given; Volume: not given; Page: not given; Year: 1776." While this is not an original document I do accept it as correct as to the death. Granted I am presuming that the dead Giles is father of OUR Giles because of the proximity of the area in which OUR Giles was living. It certainly does not state her maiden name was Dodson.

As to OUR Giles having been in the Rev. War. He most certainly was and there are about 7 enlistments found on the Pennsylvania State Archives

I personally have not found any documentation a substitute served FOR Giles. He served for other men on several occasions.

Just thought I would add my thoughts.

Florence Parman
