That may be the one, as my g-g grand father was named George Holton. Is that information accessable on the internet? The local records we have here in Miami co. (where the children were sent to an orpahange) shows Greoge,Rebecca and the children spelling the last name Holeton,Holton, and Holten. I, myself ,if I dont spell my last name for them, simply spell it the way it sounds to them.It has been a little frustrating trying to get things such as my military info, and they tell me it isn't there, when I know for a fact it is. I always have to ask them under what spelling they are looking under. As far as the name Belle, I am also looking for Rebecca and George's 2nd oldest daughter Anna "Belle" She was sent to the Delaware Industrial Home for girls in Scotio Co.(up by Columbus, Ohio). I am waiting to hear back from them concering getting copies of her file there. The name of the place has been changed to Scotio juvenile center, which now houses boys and girls. It may be that I am looking for my roots under the wrong spelling of our last name. The hand written papers I have , written by my g grandfathers 2nd oldest brother,(William) spells the last name Holten. The oldest brother(Alfred) spells it Holeton,as did my g-grand father(Augustus).....so who REALLY knows....( laugh-laugh) I sure don't!!!!! Get back with me when you can. I will save your reply in a special folder for easy access. Pam
