Joseph Paul Pascal b. in Corsica m. in Natchez, 1816, to Nancy McLaughlin. He was a member of Napoleon's body guard and dropped his last name when he escaped to America
son Peter Pascal Paul b. Jan 11, 1829 d. Mobile, AL 1890 m. Harriet Swain and 2nd Providence Hext Chisolm.
Son Washburn Paul b. 1873 in New Orleans m. Marietta Eberlein 1897
Washburn Paul and was a cousin to Pearl Zane Grey.

Beth was hospitalized for gall bladder surgery on Thursday, suffered a stroke Friday, a major heart attack Saturday, and died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005.

Beth was raised by her grandparents Marietta and Washburn Paul.
(f) Marietta Eberlein (12 Jul 1877-1 May 1959) marriage license 28 Apr 1897 (Mobile Co. Probate book 34, page 511), married 29 Apr 1899 (per granddaughter Elizabeth Zane (Condo) Miller) to Washburn Paul (b. 15 Dec 1873 in New Orleans, d. 13 Nov 1966). He was a cousin to Pearl Zane Grey. Marietta lived in Charleston and met Paul on a train. He loved genealogy and took their 14-year-old granddaughter Beth to Scotland, England, Ireland and dictated their findings to her, which she typed up later. She kept all those books of notes.
       Children of Marietta Eberlein & Washburn Paul:
       (m) Chisholm DuMont Paul (born. 1900) born in Mobile, Alabama. Died New Orleans, La. Professional name: Monty Paul. Did two hitches in the Navy. Attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music. A pianist, Uncle DuMont lived in New York City, New York, also well known in Connecticut. Never married. Died before 2001.
       (f) Helen Earle Paul (no nickname) born in Mobile, Alabama. Died (June 1983?) in Mobile, Alabama. Helen Earle Paul married druggist Burrell Hale Brannan (nickname Jack or Doc, d. April 1997). Lived on Washington Avenue at one time. One son William Hale Brannan (nickname, Bill or Billy), 3 other children died shortly after birth. By 1946 they lived at 706 Marine Street. City Directory says Helen P. Brannon (sic) was a designer for Thublin Gardens & Floral, at 707 Marine Street. These houses and some greenhouses still stand. In 1960 they lived at 267 Westwood, in 1967 several blocks away at 254 Seminole Street. (We have a brief note, something about the corner of 721 Church Street). He worked at a variety of drug stores.
They are buried at Magnolia Cemetery, Mobile, AL. I believe Beth Miller was referring to her when she said “she died age 101.”
       (f) Marietta Paul (born 1908) born in Mobile, Alabama. Still living in Dallas. This aunt goes by Aunt Dee. Married LIVING Sigler from Minneapolis, Minnesota. They had 4 children: Jimmy Dee and Charles Edward died when they were 4 & 6 yrs. old
       (f) Winona Paul died at the age of 4 years after eating poison berries in her Aunt Winona’s yard where she was being kept that day.
       (f) Elizabeth Zane Paul, born Dec, 3, 1913, in Mississippi. Lives in Metairie, LA. (nickname Betty). Married 1. Roy Waldo Condo Dec. 24, 1931. Divorced c. 1940. He died in New Orleans, La. c. 1958. She next married LIVING Chabaud (one of five sons of Gabrielle Bryant "Bre-ant" and William Joseph Chabaud) and had two more children.
(m) Edward Palmer Eberlein - (d. 7 SEP 1941) married 20 JAN 1904 (per Mobile Co. Probate book 38, 191) to Jessie J. Cassidy. E. Palmer was childless, raised two of his wife's sister's daughters. Devout Christian.
(f) Winona Eberlein (b. 1881) married 14 NOV 1918 (per Mobile Co. Probate book 49, 336) to Mr. Robertus R. Patton. Winona was born at 910 Government, per LPW She had reddish tinted hair and gray-blue eyes. Daughter: LIVING Patton (b. 1919-) m. Mr. Williams, had 2 children
(m) John Gaillard Eberlein, Sr., of Mobile, AL (16 JAN 1884-18 SEP 1959) married 05/28/1908 per Mobile Co. Probate record book 41, 329) to Martha Elizabeth Sirmon (DOB 1 AUG 1887 in Mobile), daughter of John Asbury Sirmon (DOB 25 June 1855) and Lora Philamelia Martin (DOB 23 MAY 1859). Their son: (m) John Gaillard Eberlein, Jr. (DOB 9 AUG 1908 in Mobile, AL, DOD 11 MAR 1975) married 24 FEB 1939 to Esther Merlee Webb (DOB 15 JAN 1914 in Cunningham, AL or 15 SEP). Living children.
(f) Helene R. Eberlein married Bernard A. Carlin (14 APR 1915 per Mobile Co. Probate record book 46, 552). Met in and lived in New York City, NY; Minnesota; and on Dog River, south of Mobile, AL. Had three children.
