Rosa H. (Rose) Pass & Lancin/Lans Hicks

I am searching for Rosa Pass and Lancin/Lans Hicks family members. Both were born in NC,abt 1827 & 1828, and died in Blount Co, Tenn--although Lans might have died in Monroe Co, Tenn, after Rosa--I am not certain. They had a son named William Russell Hicks who married Mary Ellen Pass, his cousin. William was b 1860 Blount Co, tenn, and d 1929, Blount Co. Mary Ellen was b 1866 Tenn, and d 1925, Blount Co. They married 1884 Morgan Co, Tenn.

The Lans Hicks, his father, and several of his brothers and sisters were deaf, which makes this family very difficult to research.I believe that the Hicks might have come from NC with the Pass family, as they were also from NC--specifically Person and Caswell Co, NC.

Lans father was William Hicks b 1796, NC, and his mother Elizabeth. Mary Ellen's parents were Russell Ramsey Pass and Margary Matilda Taylor who both were b in Tenn, and died in Loudin Co, Tenn. Lans had a sister Margary Hicks who married Russell Pass--I would like to find out what his father's name was, and how he was related to Mary Ellen.

Does anyone know about this family? If so, what more can you tell me about William Russell Hicks and Mary Ellen Pass, and Lans Hicks and Rosa H. Pass? I have drawn a blank on them. And, most of all, if you DO know of them, did they produce deaf or hearing and speech impaired children?

Our branch of Hicks do not have the deaf gene, and we were very surprised to find it in the 1850 census. I am open to, and would appreciate, any help or advice.

Warm Regards, Mary Hicks
