A letter written by grandfather, Herman Bohane Pass,(b. 12Nov1848 in Faison, Duplin Co., NC) written 3/23/1918 in response to the Pension Board's request lists his father James Holoway Pass , Mother Martha Ann Conley Pass with his bro. James Fredric Pass and himself as living in the sumer of 1850 at or near Fason, NC. and in the summer of 1860 on Cherry Creek near Sparta, White Co., TN with his mother, James Fredrick Pass, sister Mary (S or E), Sallie F. and Bro. John Holoway and Jerry Monroe Pass, his father having died Aug/ 1858 the P.O. address being Sparta Whjite Co. TN. All of the bros. & Sisters lived until Feb. or Mar 1864 when Bo. James, Co. F, 2nd TN Mtd Inf. USA died at Carthage, TN and buried at Alexnadria, TN.

My grandfather's history of residences seems to have followed that of several other Pass's into Ark, Tx., La. Tn. I can't seem to connect him to the James Holoway Jr.(m. Eleanor Alen, 22Apr 1844 Rockingham VA). Did he have a second wife Martha Ann Conoly? Was his connection to the family severed because of Union affiliation? I have found some Conley's listed in White Co., TN cemetery list. Any help appreciated.
