I believe that Shelton (D. or O.) Pass is the son of Matthew Jewitt Pass, Sr. In 1863 John D. was administrating the estate of his father Matthew Jewitt Pass, Sr. and evidently was going to sell one of Dicey Ann Pass's slaves, Dicey being a minor daughter of Shelton D. Pass, when a friend stepped in to protect her property. This Dicey was shown in the 1860 Elbert County Census as age 9 along with Thos. A. Pass aged 5. Shelton was alive in 1860. I believe this Dicey Ann was probably named after her grandmother Dicey Eberhart.

Superior Court Records Book R 1858-1865
"William B. Tankensley as the next friend of Dicy Ann Pass a minor & orphan of Shelton D. Pass deceased." John D. Pass was selling a negro for the estate of Mathew J. Pass 1st day Dec 1863. The slave apparently belonged to Dicey rather than Mathew.
