Burslem is a town in Stoke-On-Trent in Staffordshire. Burslem has always been the centre of British ceramics, earthenware and pottery. It is very likely that George Pass, John's father moved to the 'Potteries' at the time of the Industrial Revolution in Britain looking for work. (which would explain why you can't find any info on them in Burslem!) I have no record of a George or Richard Pass at this time, but am still in the process of tracing the family tree. It is almost certain that your family line is related to mine at some point.
