Isham EAST was involved in a lawsuit with one of my ancestors and I am looking for anything about him or the lawsuit!
In the May Court 1762, Halifax Co., VA, "Isham East, Plt. v. Nathaniel Pass and Robert Wooding, admor. of William McGinnis decd, Defts in case. This day came the Plt by his attorney, and thereupon cam also a jury to wit [jurors named] who say that the Plt has sustained damages by reason of the breach of a certain promise and assumption in the declaration, to 8 pounds 18 shillings and 4 pence half penny. Judgment for Plt for the damages afd."
The reason this intrigues me is that Nathaniel Pass was my 5x-grandfather and it is possible that William McGinnis was a 6x-grandfather. I want to know what the "certain promise" was that Isham sued for! It might help solve some other mysteries!
