In the manifests for ships arriving in San Francisco during the Gold Rush, I found mention of Thomas H. Pass of Gainesville, Georgia who died of fever on 3 Jan 1852 and was buried at sea. The ship was "Golden Gate" which left Panama on 27 Dec 1851 and arrived in San Francisco 9 Jan 1852. Listed as a passenger was F.H. Pass. Thomas H. Pass, 33,was enumerated in the 1850 Hall Co GA census.

This was on p. 68 of "San Francisco Ship Passengers Lists." Volume 1, Colma, California' Louis J. Rasmussen, 1965. Reprint. Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1978
