I think we're researching the same Patchel family. My ancestress, Jane Patchel, married William Clay in 1812 in Highland Co., Ohio. In later census records, she gave her birthplace as Kentucky. In those early years in Highland Co., an Eleanor Patchel was in the census records, as was a John Patchel who served in the War of 1812. I suspect that your Ann, who I found in Kentucky marriage records, was Jane Patchel's sister. There weren't many Patchels around during that period - most of them are in Pennsylvania, but I haven't been able to get any further on finding Jane's ancestry.
