RE : PATIENCE family. My grandfather was born in Avoch circa 1895. A Coat of Arms was granted to a family by this name in Guyenne,France around the middle ages.Jean Pierre Patience currently lives in Paris. Some believe, however, that where this name appears around Avoch and Petty that it may be an anglicized version of another name - PASSIANS - which appears frequently on local records. May be Spanish.I have located a Ricardo Passians on the net..Interestingly there is a YIDDISH influence in the old Avoch dialect probably due to the presence ofjewish merchants in the local herring industry..
