.The French cultural society here in Melbourne, Australia has confirmed that both PATIENCE and PASSIANS are very old French names .Both are, in fact, the SAME name with the latter spelling being the original version and dating from the second century.PASSIANS was a high ranking official of the Catholic church.It is believed that there is a relationship to the Roman Emperor VESPASIAN. English puritans who took the name of PATIENCE are not related to the PATIENCE family of France and Scotland.
