Patriots' War of 1837 Forum

This battle took place in Nov. of 1838, long after the Rebellions of 1837 were over. It was a group of Americans from the "Hunter's" Lodges, encouraged by the American government who invaded Canada [I never could figure out why they thought Canadians wanted to be invaded, but never mind!] Parks Canada has a short blurb on its website and maintains the site as an historic park. Among the books written about this event is "Guns Across the River--the Battle of the Windmill". The website for that is www.ensigngroup.ca/Guns-Across-River.htm This gives a short history also.
The rebellion itself in Upper Canada died out very quickly. Those who fled mainly went to Navy Island and to the US that way.
Good Luck in searching. ps Why is it called the Patriot's War in the US? Who on earth are the patriots?
