The Vancampen's came from Holland to the U.S. in the early 1600's, I have found that if the name is VanCamp there is a connection. Just finding it can take time. The Van Camp's were all in the U.S. and did not go to Canada
well most of them. They were forced out of the U.S. as they were Loyal to the King and their homes were burned to the ground left with nothing. The were given land in Canada. Many of them stayed but when things settled down
many of the descendents moved to all area's of the U.S.
If you do a search "The Brownfish" you will find Gerrit Vancampen's wife and possibly brother in the 1600's.
The name change in my case Peter Vancampen changed the name as he had a twin brother and to seperate the families he stopped using the en. Van Camp I can remember as a young child signing my name Vancampen but
later my father as did I use Van Camp
