He spent some time in Lower Canada and also served as an assistant to Dr. Machar of St. Andrew's in Kingston. During this time, he ministered to several prisoners awaiting trial for treason following the Battle of Windmill Point in 1838. On Jan. 29, 1840, Rev. Neill was ordained and inducted at the Allan property by the Auld Kirk Presbytery of Kingston as the minister of Seymour...
