Prussian Pattees - Where are they?

Trying to trace my Pattee lineage, but keep getting stuck at my grandfather, Albert Julius Pattee. We don't seem to come from the Peter Pattee lineage. I recently discovered in the 1889 History of Shelby County, that A.J.'s parents were Rudolph and Ernestine (Gohlke) Pattee. A.J. emigrated to America, without his parents, in 1863 at the age of 9yrs and resided with his uncle Edward Pattee. Much later, A.J.'s younger brothers, Edward George and Otto Pattee followed to avoid fighting in the Franco-Prussian war. Another brother, Robert, wounded himself in order not to be forced to fight. It is believed that he remained in Prussia. We know that Edward George was born somewhere in Possen, Preussen, and I have discovered that the Gohlke's were prominent in that region, but have found nothing about Pattees. I am very lost at this point.

A.J. married Emma Rilla Holeman in March of 1878, however, there marriage barely lasted a year as Emma succumbed to TB. A.J. later married Elmira Jane Lytton on 24 Sept 1882, and they had 7 children: Emma Rilla, Joseph McHenry, Alice Jessie, Mascott Ermal, Mary Adelaide (my grandmother), Laura Adaline, and Herbert John. The family resided in Harlan, Shelby County, IA, where A.J. was a prominent businessman, restauranteur, and confectioner. I'm also looking for information on Joseph McHenry Pattee's family as they moved out of the Iowa area and I have no list of descendants.

It is believed that A.J.'s brother, Otto moved to Perry, IA, but we have nothing beyond his name...he simply disappeared. We still keep in contact with Edward George's descendants, who live/d in Avoca, IA, but they have no further information as well.

If anyone has even the slightest bit of information, please contact me.
