There are land patents in Colorado for Alice J. Pattee, widow of Asa D. Pattee, in 1911, and for Edward G. Pattee in 1891. Perhaps this is your Edward?
Here are the land patents listed for PATTEE's in Colorado at http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/:

PATTEE, EDWARD G, issued 5/28/1891 (no image).
PATTEE, ALICE J widow of ASA D PATTEE, 23 March 1911, Glenwood Springs, Colorado
PATTEE, ERNEST D assignee of ELIZA CHARLES, Pueblo, Colorado 21 September 1915
PATTEE, PEARL, widow of ERNEST D. PATTEE, 30 January 1919
