Harold, From what I hear about his daughter I can imagine the response. My mother is a Pattee and I have become more interested in the family history, and I cant imagine refusing to turn over the works of either of my parents especially if that is what they wanted, regardless of what I wanted or regardless of what excuse I decided to come up with. Anyway from what I know I think it would be a very sad thing to give up on making an attempt to change her mind.

As a recent post suggested, I agree Linwood Pattee was dedicated and selfless with the genealogy and other work. He would have been turbo charged with today's technology and I'm sure make very good use of and be a presence on the Internet, I think he did quite well with the tools and resources available at the time.

It is a tragedy that his wishes are at best not respected by his daughter and the work which took half his life will not be used as he had always wanted.

I saw some reference to finding his daugher's info or contacting her, I came across her Website which is: Maybe after some years she would be willing to turn over her father's files.

I suggest that someone who corresponded closely with Lin try to contact her because it is worth trying to preserve and build on his work, which is the only thing he wanted, so simple but unfortunately so difficult.

I know he never could have imagined that his many years and countless hours of efforts would be lost for something that was so important to him, and unfortunately his immediate family refuses to respect or honor his simple wish.
