John Patten, William Patten's sixth child, was born on November 1, 1751, died December 22, 1820 and was buried in W. Charleston, Maine. I remember coming across a book titled, John Patten 1751-1820 and His Descendants. In my notes I have him married to Margaret ? and then Polly ?. He had a total of fifteen chldren by both wives. I found this info in the book by Howard Parker Moore, Patten Genealogy. I have read Matthew Pattens' diary and I am not quite sure which "John" you might be referring to. Matthew's father's name was John, also. He died in April, 1746, at age 75. John Patten's wife was Mary Gammel, who died in Bedford on October 1, 1764. Matthew Patten had eleven children and perhaps one of them was named John. I do have info on a John Patten, who placed a young woman, Grace Young, in a delicate position. John was sued by Thomas Walker, the new husband of Grace (Young) Walker of Londonderry around 1749. This John Patten received legal help from Matthew Patten of Bedford. John later moved to Marblehead, Mass and Londonderry, NH. He also had business transactions with Samuel Patten of Deering, NH. They may have been cousins. I can provide sources, if I can find them!
