I believe the Matthew Patten you refer to is my ancestor as well though I have different dates for his birth and death. I have him born in No. Ireland in 1799 and he died in Moores Forks, NY in 1801. While these dates would make him younger at death it would also make him living in three different centuries. He had a son Matthew James Jr who was born in 1877 in Moores Forks by Eliza Laxy of Woods Falls Canada. The names and towns seem to match. The dates are interesting as he would have been 78 by my dates, older by yours and Eliza would have been 40. The son Matthew James died in Winsted Connecticut in 1970. this can be confirmed as I remember my great grandfather Patten quite well. If his father was like him he could have well had a child at 78 or older. I hope to be able to confirm the dates.
