Hello Erin,
I am not too sure how much you know about Elizabeth Patten. There is quite a bit written about her in the Rev. Elliott C. Cogswell's, History of Nottingham, Deerfield, & Northwood, Rockingham County, N.H., and Genealogical Sketches,(1878, Printed by John B. Clark, Manchester, N.H.). Have you seen this book? I do not have the entire book, but I do have some pages that I copied. He goes into much detail about her murder by the Indians. I would love to exchange information.
You might even be able to shed some light on an old mystery that I have not figured out. A son of Andrew and Elizabeth, Patten Simpson marries Jean McClure. Thomas Simpson, a son of Andrew and Elizabeth have a daughter named Elizabeth that marries a David or Daniel McClure and this McClure is supposed to be a brother to Jean McClure that married Patten Simpson. The problem here is that Jean did have a brother named David, but he was long time married to a Mary Dinsmore and she never had a brother named Daniel. This Elizabeth Simpson and David/Daniel McClure went to Maine after they were married. I have never been able to find them. Nor can I figure who this McClure was? Can you shed any light on this?
Can you contact me via e-mail and we can get more detailed in our exchane of info. Or I can contact you.
