I am so glad to see your post...maybe I am on the right track here. My New York Pauleys are said to have been French Protestants exiled to America...One of them was killed in the War of 1812. They also supposedly changed their name to Pauley from (one relative thought) "Paule'", but I started thinking it might more likely have been from Paulet. Searches on "Paulet" are turning up many Acadian webpages...Who were your New York Polleys?
