I don't know if this will help. My Paulin side is from New Brunswick, but my mother and gram were very proud of being Acadian. The story went that an ancestor was deported in 1755 - ended up in Louisianna, and made his way back eventually.. but the ancestor's brother stayed in Louisianna. There are many Paulin in New England states, and particularly in Rumford, Maine.

My great grand parents were Xavier and Venerante (Mazerolle)Paulin.
