I don't think there's any connection but one never knows.......

My great great grandfather was Johann Paulsen, born September 26, 1794 in Welmbuttel; d. January 21, 1867 in Albersdorf. He did not immigrate to the US, however, so is probably not related to your Johann Paulsen.

My grandmother, Julie Karoline Elisabeth Paulsen was born May 4, 1879 in Marne. Her father was Theodore Paulsen. He had a half-brother named Hans Paulsen and a half-sister named Elisabeth Margaretha Paulsen, both of whom immigrated to the Davenport, Iowa area in the mid-1800s.
