None of the replies to my original message have yet fit my family. Sorry no connection could be made. In the meantime I have been doing more research back in Schleswig-Holstein. Johann Frederick Paulsen was born 29 July 1837 at Hillgroven, a small village just outside Wesselburen. He was the son of Matthias and Christinea (Hartwig) Paulsen. Matthias seems to have been an only son, born 5 December 1798 at Hollingstedt (Kreis Delve)- son of Jochim and Anna (Moller) Paulsen. If any one ties to these families, please contact me.
