I was conducting a search for Payan's that started in 2000. I have recently begun to try to finish the search and get other leads, since my father's 80th is coming up. We are from California, Ventura county. My grandfather Manuel Mesa Payan b.1888 near Phoenix, territory of Mexico at the time. Married my grandmother, Francisca Jurado b.1902, from Mineral del Cobre, Chihuahua, Mexico. They had 12 children. My father, who is the oldest living now has recalled some pertinent info that may help others. My grandfather's siblings, older brother Ramon, sisters Faustina, Maria, Concepcion, & Herlinda. Herlinda married a gentlemen with a Jewish surname, that my father cannot remember. Her husband was half Jewish & Mexican. Maria & Faustina resided in Los Angeles. Faustina married Elias Betancour, who had a store along Broadway Blvd, in Los Angeles, near the present Dodger Stadium. Concepcion (aka Chonita) & Herlinda resided near or in Texas-Mexican border. My great-grandparents are Nabor Payan & Juliana Mesa. I believe Nabor's father name was Luis Payan, and that is where my trail ends. On my grandmother's side Francisca Jurado she was daughter of Guadalupe Jurado & Victoria (last name unknown). My grandfather met my grandmother by way of her brother Cruz Navarro, a railroad worker near Chihuahua. My father recalls some uncles of my grandmother, Mercedes Arreola & Damian Arreola. If anyone has leads in Chihuahua, the Jurado name, the Arreola's, or possibly Cruz Navarro let me know. My grandfather had a previous marriage with children. My father recalls that there names are Francisco & Leo (or Leon). If anyone has any lead on this please let me know. Thanks. Jose Notify Administrator about this message?
