Hi Cheryl, You are a distant cousin to my husband,Richard. Jean Baptiste Payan (sometimes Payant later Piant)was a brother to your ancestor Elizabeth. As to her birth certificate, I don't think there were any then or perhaps they weren't recorded any central place. However baptisms were recorded in the parishes and your ancestor's is most likely in St. Ferdinand of Florissant, St. Louis Co. MO (in French). That's where I found our Jean Bte. Anyway where are you? Are you in the St. Louis area? Thats where we are. Contact me directly on e-mail and I'll tell you more about your cousins etc. Maybe you can help me with my mysteries! I remember seeing the Walton name as a spouse in one of my records but I can't find it now, it really wasn't much, just the last name. By the way the surname as handed down to us is Piant (pronounced PIE ahnt). Glad to have found you, Yvonne
