I am not researching these people, just entering information. I am putting this in the Payn Forum, because that is the way the name is stated here, however, there is also information on this man in the Payne Forum.
From the booklet "Western Maryland Genealogy" Volume 2, No. 4, Oct. 1986 is the following:
"Frederick County Wills: Book A1 - Flayll Payn of Frederick County. Will dtd. 27 Oct. 1764, week. To son Thomas: Payne's Industry. To son John: the upper part of Payne's Delight, beginning at the mouth of a spring branch. To son Flayll, he also executor, half of the other part, and to son Peter, the other half. Also to Flayll: one-third of the moveables, and the rest equally to Peter Payn and John Best. To dau. Martha Nichols: 1 pound sterling. signed by F.P. Wit: Thomas Stump, Easter Carter, Henry Jackson. Proved 1(?) Oct. 1765 by Stump and Jackson. (p. 256).
An paternal ancestor of my children bought land from Flayll Payn that was located on the Potomac River in the area of what is now Knoxville and Brunswick.
