Alonzo Dewey Payne (b. about 1816 in Darien, Genesee Cnty, NY) was the son of my 4th gr-grandfather, Erastus E. Payne (b. 1791 in Lebanon, CT). I think that Alonzo was my 3rd-gr grand uncle. The family moved to NY State from CT between 1814 and 1816, and later moved to IN and WI. My great grandfather, Sidney A. Payne, and his brother, Mark H., homesteaded in Berlin Twnshp (Argusville), Cass County, ND.

While in New York State, the Erastus E. Payne family lived in Pembroke and Darien Townships, Genesee County. Other relations may have lived in Leicester Twnshp, Genesee Co. And still more family members (probable brothers of Erastus E. Payne) lived in German Flatts, Herkimer Co., NY.

I would very much like to see any letters written by Payne family members! I'm more than happy to provide additional info on the Payne family.
