In the Vital Records of Dorchester, I find the following children recorded for this Ephraim Payson and Judith Clapp:
Ephraim, b. April 13, 1718
Desire, b. July 31, 1719
Sarah, b. December 30, 1722
Mary, b. October 09, 1724
Katherine, b. October 07, 1726
I find no other children in the Dorchester VRs for them. However, "The Whittemore Family in America," NEHGR, vol. 107, October 1953: 253, reports a daughter Susanna b. abt. 1737 (a birth not mentioned in the Dorchester VRs). The family must have moved to Stoughton by this time, so Ruth's birth and marriage must be recorded.
I'll keep your Ruth in mind as I do my own research. I descend from Ephraim's brother Jonathan, b. 1699 in Dorchester.
