Hi,I don't know the background of the name
Payson, other than a few notes I've picked up
along the way. Will quote some. From "Encyclo-
pedia Of Biography":"The name Payson is of
considerable antiquity,and has been represen-
ted in America from the earliest period of it
's history. The name has been identified with
all that makes the progress and the develop-
ment of industries and good morals." Pg.297.
Sometimes spelled (Pawson,Pason,Payzant,Pay-
zan).My family was from Nazing, near Stanstead
Abbots,County Norfolk,England. There is a
listing in "The New England Historical & Gen-
ealogical Register 1906". Hope this gives some help. Hope somebody can fill you in bet-
ter. Good Luck.
George
