In answer to both your quires: Dr. Nathaniel Peabody was the eldest son of Isaac and Mary (Potter) Peabody of NEw Boston, NH. He was born in Topsfield, MA 3/30/1774 and died in Englewood, NJ 1/1/1855. Elizabeth Palmer was from a prominent Salem, MA family and was born in Andover, 11/3/1802. She died 1/1853 (not sure of the exact date or place). They lived in Salem where Dr. Peabody practiced. If you can find the book about the three sisters, it is worth reading for information on this family. The eldest, Elizabeth Palmer, was a noted educator in the Boston area and is cited as being the founder of the American Kindergarten and early childhood education. Mary Tyler, also an educator and partner in many schools with her sister, married Horace Mann and they had several children. Sophia was proclaimed an "invalid" by her mother but was a fairly well known artist (landscapes, mostly) and married Nathaniel Hawthorne. She died in England, 2/26/1871. there were 3 sons, Nathaniel Cranch (12/11/1811-2/23/1881), George Francis (10/10/1813-11/24/1839) and Willington b. 11/16/1815 and another daughter Catherine Putnam (4/26/1819 - 6/11/1819). Elizabeth is the daughter born in Billerica; Mary in Cambridge and Sophia and Nathaniel in Salem. Nathaniel Cranch married Sarah Elizabeth Hubbard 5/13/1835 in Boxton. They lived in Concord where he died. They had 2 daughters, Ellen Elizabeth and Mary Cranch. Mary was born in Bangor, ME, so they must have lived there at one time. This family is descended from John Paybody of Leisterschire, England. I do have more information on the Peabody family. If you are interested, email me.
