Well, let's see if we can make any other connections. Here is what I have learned about Josef.
He is in the city directories for Leadville, CO in 1855, 1856 and 1857. Occupation is listed as butcher or sausagemaker. I have not found him in the 1880 census there.
Marriage certificate from Leadville is dated 04/20/1888 and their first child, Josephine Caroline is born there in 1889. By 1991 they have moved to Anaconda, MT where their first son, George Walter is born.
Josef was a suicide on 01/12/1909. The information on his death certificate was supplied by wife, Victoria. She lists his birthplace as "Germany" and birthdate as "1856."
A letter written by one of Josef's grandsons about his grandparents confirms that Josef was a butcher, that he commited suicide "shortly befor WWI" and that he was "a German immigrant."
And that is all I know so far. I would like to know more of the Joseph Peacher you found in the 1860 Illinois census and see if I can track his movements.
One more thing. I listed the name of Joseph and Victoria's 5th child as Alice. She was also known by "Elsie" and "Annie."
