William J. Peaden 1827-1862 Chambers Co. Alabama
William J. Peaden was born in NC, and died 11/13/1862 in the Confederate hospital in Staunton, VA after the battle of Cedar Run. He was in Co. 'I', 47th Regiment, Alabama Infantry. His widow was Frances Peaden, who received a widow's pension from the state of Alabama. William was granted a land patent for property just SW of Roanoake, AL 11/1/1851. He, Frances, and son Hawkins are listed on the 1850 Randolph county census. The 1860 Chambers county census shows William, Frances, children Hawkins, Margaret, Lizie, Frances, and Martha Peaden, probably his mother. The 1870 Chambers county census shows Frances and Margaret. The last correspondence in Frances' pension file was dated 7/1898, and indicated she owned 80 acres at Welch, AL. I have info on Hawkins, but nothing on the other siblings. I don't know when Frances was born (about 1831 in Georgia according to the census), what her maiden name was, or when or where she died. Any help would be appreciated.
