In 1850, Edmund Peale (son of Raphaelle and Martha (Patty) McGlathery), after the death of his wife apparently sent several of his children to live with two of his sisters families: Eliza Ferguson Peale m. John C. Stockton and Sophonisba Peale m. her second cousin James Peale. Sophonisba and James were living in Philadelphia at that time. They also had a son: James Godman Peale. One of Edmund's daughters was Ida Sophonisba Peale. It is possible that this letter was meant for her but the MRS. Ida Peale throws me. She was married in 1855 to Foster Harris Roper.
