Hello again Donald,
Sorry about the DNA acronym, MRCA stands for Most Recent Common Ancestor,I have gotten so into all things yDNA these last few years that I have neglected my genealogy.
The Pearcy for me are pretty much a lost cause to date considering I cannot put my hands on the scarce hard copy I had for them and my earlier computer records were on one dead, long gone and "glad to be gotten rid of Gateway" and one sleeping MAC refusing to be aroused again. And, useless backup. So, all that aside I have sent your post to Neal Freeman. If you click on Humphrey Crook's message links and post to him same as you did me and he is still online I think he will respond.Ditto Mr. Dunaway whom I hope is well and still online. There are numerous and sundry other kin that were posting but may have moved on.
When I began searching in year 2000 I read every message on every forum that applied to location and surname. This GenForum is one of the best places to begin searching.Go all the way back to the beginning of the messages and make notes and send emails. In some ways today should be easier for online searching but hard to say.Difficult to know what is correct and what is BS and much of it is really way off.You seem to have done very well so far.Don't know how long you have been searching but you seem to have gotten a great foundation going. Now, probably comes the hard part as you get back in time.It should be fairly easy to find Pearcy in the CSA if your man is there. He may have fought for the Union.Humphrey Crook has letters from some of his folks who moved north during those times.
I had those records on my old data.
Yes, I understand the 40 years, Doug and I bought timbered land out in the middle of nowhere when he retired and cleared just enough trees tobuild our own home over 25 years ago and his values of what is important and what is not important are very different than those of many civilians.Life changing is just that...life changing.Takes away those rose colored glasses.
I will let you know if I find any of my hard copy or think of further info.Ancestry.com I like but that is strictly a personal feeling as there is much there not so good.I can check out what they have if you are not a member there.Let me know.I am at
